Tears flowed freely in the eyes of the President of Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria, Eastern Nigeria union Conference (ENUC), Pastor Prof. Bassey Udoh as he struggled to articulate his thoughts on the untimely death of Mrs. Victoria Hope-Anama, the National Director of Adventist Corps members in Nigeria on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
In a somber telephone discussion, the clergy described her as a paragon of selflessness and dedication. He spoke of Mrs. Anama's unvacillating support and commitment to caring for Adventist Corps members, even sacrificing her personal comforts to ensure their well-being.
Visibly shaken by the loss. Pastor Udoh remarked that her selflessness is second to none. “Mrs. Victoria Sacrificed her home and tried to be sure that these corps members are cared for.  I gave her the NAAC platform when she volunteered and she never abuse it, instead turned it to an enviable mission field in Nigeria. Chia… Good People don’t last, He cried."
Mrs. Victoria Anama's impact transcended her role within the church, resonating deeply with leaders and members alike. Revered for her humility, obedience, and resourcefulness, she quickly became a beloved figure within the Seventh-day Adventist community.
In my life, I am yet to know any lay person that has ever been celebrated like Mrs. Victoria Anama, since I heard the news of her demise, I can’t even sleep." He lamented.
Despite her relatively short time in her leadership position, Mrs. Anama's legacy is indelible. She leaves behind a testament of service and compassion that will be remembered for years to come. "Sister Vicky lived a short but impactful life, Her deeds speak volumes."
Overcome with emotion, Pastor Udoh sought solace in the scripture and conveyed God's promise of comfort through the Holy Spirit.
He emphasized the eternal hope found in faith. "I find strength in the words of 1 Thessalonians 4:13 which assure us that for we believe in the promise of resurrection and the eternal life that God has prepared for those who love Him. We may not understand the reasons behind such loss, but we find comfort in knowing that God's presence and peace will sustain us. Our faith teaches us that though we mourn today, we do not mourn as those who have no hope,"
"The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria stands with the Husband, Children and family in this time of grief. May the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, bring you peace that surpasses all understanding, and may His presence be a source of strength as you cherish the memories of Sister Vicky, he spoke compassionately.
