Handover Ceremony at the Secretariat of the West-Central Africa Division, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
On Monday, July 11, 2025, at the Division headquarters, a handover ceremony took place between Pastor Sessou Selom, called to serve the Church at the General Conference as Associate Secretary, and Pastor Same Vincent, the new Executive Secretary of the Division, elected during the recent session held in the United States from July 3 to 11, 2025.
Pastor Selom Sessou, who has served as Executive Secretary of the West-Central Africa Division for the past three years, was, by the grace of God, called to serve as Associate Secretary at the General Conference during the last elections. He will be responsible for overseeing three Divisions, the Adventist University of Africa, the French Media Advisory, and the General Conference Session.
After presenting the various responsibilities of the Secretariat and the staff with whom he worked during his leadership in this position, Pastor Selom invited his successor to greater cooperation and, above all, to prayer. According to him, the mission must continue with new strategies to achieve its goals. He also emphasized the importance of the Secretariat in the growth of the Church and concluded by urging everyone to collaborate for a successful mission in the Division.
In his remarks, Pastor Same Vincent, the new Executive Secretary of the West-Central Africa Division, thanked his predecessor, Pastor Selom, and his team and pledged to do everything possible so that the mission entrusted to him by the Church may move forward by God’s grace, without exclusion. He invited all staff members to get to work with the aim of advancing the gospel throughout every corner of the Division. He further assured that he would do all in his power so that, by God’s grace, the Division will continue to uplift Christ everywhere and at all times.
Present at the ceremony, alongside Pastors Same and Selom, were the new Division Treasurer, Pastor Dickson Sarfo Marfo; Pastor Donkor and his wife; Pastor Elems; Pastor Nwarungwa; Sister Stella; Elder Alexis Kouadio; Sister Monica Bakari; Elder René Kamenou; Elder Falayi; and many others.
At the close of the ceremony, Pastor Nwarungwa, Director of Global Mission, offered a special prayer, committing the mission of the two pastors to God for the success of their new responsibilities.
