PRAIA, CABO VERDE | A Historic Step Forward for Mission in the Western Sahel

The Mid-Year Committee meetings of the West-Central Africa Division (WAD) were held online from June 3–5, 2026. Among the major decisions voted was the relocation of the headquarters of the West Sahel Union Mission (WSUM) from Dakar, Senegal, to Praia, Cabo Verde, effective January 1, 2027.
In this context, WAD President Pastor Bassey Udoh has been in Praia since June 4, 2026, accompanied by Abraham Bakari, WAD Communication Director.
On Friday, June 5, they participated in the official inauguration of Radio Maranatha, a new voice of hope for Cabo Verde. The ceremony was attended by the Cabo Verde Secretary of State for Communication, the Mayor of the City of Praia, church leaders, and numerous distinguished guests.
On Sabbath, June 6, Pastor Bassey Udoh will address God’s people gathered at the University of Cabo Verde for worship. In the afternoon, he will meet with church members and leaders to discuss the ONEVOICE27 initiative and leadership development.
Activities will continue on Sunday, June 7, with a training session for communication leaders and church officers aimed at strengthening mission outreach and the proclamation of the Gospel through media and emerging communication platforms.
Let us pray that these important initiatives will advance God’s mission and help prepare more people for the soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
